    Hi everybody,

I'm wondering does anybody have this problem. Sometimes I live Vista on for a long time and it goes to sleep mode. Then I press the home button and the notebook sounds like it powers back on but the monitor doesn't come back. Is there something that can change this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Frank

I've had the same problem with my Inspiron 1420 not waking up from sleep mode. Like you, it sounds as though it has woken up except nothing shows up on the screen. Have you found out any info on how to fix it?

I have no problem in waking up my Vostro, but I have never use the "home" (MediaDirect) button to do that. It may try to launch the MediaDirect from sleep mode and take a very long time in doing so. Anyway, most of the wake up problems are related to the video driver. What video do you have? The Intel onboard or the 8400M? I am using 8400M GS and I am using Forceware 163.67 driver.

I had the same problem on my Vostro 1400. I would put it to sleep but it would not power down correctly. The screen went blank but the wifi and bluetooth were still running. Pressing the power button would not wake it back up. I also had problems trying to downgrade from vista to xp. I tried to use ultimate boot disc but all the wiping tools reported problems. I determined that my hard drive was defective. I am fortunately within the window for a return/exchange. A new one is on the way. Hopefully it works.
