hey guys im new to this forum hope this is in the right section![]()
ok so ive had my laptop for just over a month and what has happened is the mouse touchpad just randomly stopped working, when i type i find that i have to type a letter several times before it actually works and also the touchpad at the top does not work either(the one with the eject, volume buttons etc) also the fan is quite noisy. ive tried system restore but even after that it still doesnt work and on device manager it has all the hardware down as working properly so i have no idea what to do ive emailed dell but still waiting for a reply. (BTW this problem started about a week and a bit ago)

F emailing dell. I'd suggest calling them or chatting with them. They'll resolve those issues quickly by taking control of your computer depending on your situation. I think it'd do more helpful to call than to read posts here.

I had a Studio 15 with the exact same problems. After talking with Dell, they sent a Tech out to replace the fan. (They thought when I said fan was always on that it was the faulty piece.) I told the Tech the keyboard and stuff didnt work, so he took out the keyboard and reseated all the cables under it. Fixed everything.

how to do a complete restore? i tried pressing F8 key at startup and chose the complete pc restore option, but it says it can't find any files to restore or something along those lines.
when i go to my computer, i can see two partitions, one of them has restore files in it. -

Did you alter the files in that restore partition? Btw, restoring the OS didn't help me. -
there is no such option as the "Dell Factory Image Restore" when i try those instructions.
and i didn't change anything. i just want to put the laptop back to factory settings before i send it back to dell to get my replacement. -

"When the notebook is first turned on it is almost inaudible with the fan off. Depending on use and activated energy profile, this state can remain for some time. The system fan, when it turns on, brings the laptop's noise output to 35.6 dB(A). In this state, the Studio 15 can be described as clearly audible but hardly irritating.
Under load, the fan can further increase its speed, bringing the noise level to a maximum of 42.8 db(A). After a few seconds the rotation speed will drop, bringing the level to 38.8 db(A) with the fan still continuing to run constantly. Even this noise level was easily tolerable."
