    Problem with media direct in Vostro 1500

    I have got a vostro 1500 in several time
    My operating system in XP Home edition
    I have a problem with media direct system
    Next the reinstalling windows ; with pressing media direct key system show this message ( Error Loading NTLDR file ... ) "I think !"
    And with powering the system we have seen my operating system in ruined !
    I reinstalled windows over 15 with several method !
    How I can removal this problem ?

    actually pressing the MD button did not spoil your OS, but only your MBR.
    This is a known issue when reinstalling Windows or changing the partition order. There is a fix that depend on whether or not you are keeping the Media Direct partition.
    If it happens again, try pushing the media direct button again to power up the system after turning it off. It should come back to normal.

    What is your partition structure right now?

    At any rate, do a search in this forum for "rmbr" and "fixmbr", you will find the help you need.

    what is "rmbr" ? :eek:

    i changed partition because it was one drive only !

    what i can doing for fix it ? :confused:

    rmbr is a small utility to be found on the MEdia direct CD.
    If you have Windows on the second partition and Media Direct on the fourth partition, you should launch rmbr from a command prompt with administrative privileges with the following syntax.

    rmbr DELL 2 4

    the number to use vary according to your partition configuration.
