    Problem with my Dell Inspiron 8500

    my specs are:

    Pentium 4 2.20 GHZ
    Ram: 512
    os:windows XP
    Graphics: Ati Mobility Radeon 9000
    HD: 40 GB


    my prob is that im cant play any games on it now i used to be able to what it does is when i load up the game itll run fun for a few minutes then i will crap and and start going choppy and slow to where i cant play my games any more and when i exit the game the system runs like crap till i restart i tried everything new graphics card drivers updated windows xp and when that didnt work i formatted and reinstalled it and it still had the same problem
    can u guys help me.

    If you formatted the notebook and reinstalled things it sounds like the graphics processor might have an issue -- although that would be rare. It's also possible your notebook is overheating when you're playing the games, does it get really hot? Hotter than it used to?     Try upgrading the RAM to 2GB. Also, if all, or nearly all, of your 40GB is used up, your system will be sluggish. Upgrade to a faster (7200rpm) hard disk drive.

    What type of games do you play? This will also have a significant impact.

    ya the fan does make a differnt noise after i started playing the games

    Take a look at I8KfanGUI. Also clean out the vents as abaxter recommended.
