Hi, I'm currently on my 1520, and I'm having some visual issues with 1520, when playing BF2, First of all when I try to set resolutions, it only allows me to play on the 1054 one, no higher. I'm using the drivers from Dell's site and have a 8600. The other problem I'm having is just the overall dullness of the screen when I play, it just seems so bland compared, to what my 5 year old CRT monitor can do. Nothing is vivid, I wanted to know if their is anyway to up the way the screen looks. Ok well thats it for now, thanks for your help. By the way I went with the anti-glare 1200-800 type screen.

    1)thats the max for BF2.
    2) Thats probably because your screen is at a 300:1 contrast ratio.

What i did is i whent into nvidia control panel and adjusted my "Digital Vibrance to ~20% and set everything else to slightly higher than 50% My screen looks pretty good this way.

Ok, try resetting all settings if you've tried changing anything. And are you having that problem when u play BF2 only? If so the problem is in your game's settings, not the screen.

Mine is fine :) But I did DL drivers from laptopvideo2go

U might have to download Ntune and install the latest drivers (Bioshock)
Actualy that presnets an intresting problem. I dont know exactly what mine is set to but 1074x768 IS the highest supported by your screen. i dont think BF2 has any 8:5 resolutions So the next res up would set u over you 800 px high. You cant run something at a resolution higher than what it actualy is.

I'm not sure if this will work, but i found it doing a Google search. try adding this following to the bf2 target in the shortcut

    +menu 1 +full screen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 800

    it will look something like this "C:\Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 800

I wouldn't say always. it depends in the quality of the crt and lcd you are comparing. granted, the best looking crt will generally look nicer than the best looking lcd, but I will take the picture quality of my 22" Samsung over my old crt any day.

What did you do to get BF2 to work? Ive downloaded all the patches but I cant seem to get it to work. The opening BF2 rectangle thing opens, then a black screen for 2 seconds, then nothing. Can you gimme exactly the steps you took to install? Its just really frustrating... Also if you could, the drivers you downloaded. thanks in advance :)

    "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900

use that as your command line for bf2 to get it to widescreen (adjust the numbers at the end yourself if you have a different screen)

works with punkbuster and everything too. u may have to run as administrator though.

Firstly when I do that it does load up now, but when I check the resolution in options it doesn't have the one I stated in the exe. also when I load up a map it doesn't do the reconfigure thing with settings, so although it loads their is no apparent effect.

Now to ?'s about BF2. What I did was install BF2, then the patch for BF2 (1.41), then direct x 10, then the new bioshock driver the newest ones withe modded inf file, and it works fine after that.

Try to edit the resolution in the Video.con file too (read how-to here: http://bf2.totalgamingnetwork.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78473)
Then clean out the old cache by going to C:\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache and delete the folder(s) in there (they start with "{D1F2G3...")

Then start up BF2, and try to load a map. By the way, the resolution you state in the .exe and video.con file does not necessarily appear in the Settings Menu in-game. I play in 1680x1050, but it states a lower resolution. So don't worry about that.

Have you right-clicked on the .exe and chosen "run as administrator"?

Edit: You run XP? Then I don't think it's important anyway. Hmmm ...

CRT will also kill your eyes.

I'd strongly suggest getting the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go.com (download the latest drivers, AND the modified INF file and copy it into the folder where you unzipped the driver). The ones that ship with laptops from any manufacturer always suck.

The inability to choose widescreen is an issue with BF2. A lot of games are bad about supporting widescreen resolutions. Check out http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/ or search for "widescreen gaming" and you'll find a few sites with fixes for most popular games.

Also, you can run something "at higher resolution than it actually is" because there is no such thing when you're dealing with 3D (3D graphics works with vertices making up polygons that later get rasterized to pixels -- OpenGL/D3D can change the rasterization process to satisfy any resolution your hardware can handle -- think vector graphics if you've heard of those).

ok Ive been trying a few of those fixes in the last couple days however Im very new to these driver downloads. Ive read what to do, and follow it exactly but when I extract the files from the driver Im trying to download I get all the individual ones instead of the simple folder that Im supposed to get. I dont know whats happening...
