My dell 1520's screen resolution is 1440x900, but when i connect my laptop to a projector or a 1024x768 monitor, the resolution of my laptop automatic reduces to 1280x800. In Display Properties window, tab Setting, it shows minimum-maximum resolution is from 800x600 to 1280x800. But when i unplug the second monitor(or projector), i can increase the resolution to 1440x900.

Does anyone face that problem? How can i fix it?

    Thanks for reading

Because you are cloning your screen. If you allowed it to be extended then it would allow for different resolutions for both screens.

No, the video card does not matter.

I know that nVidia doesn't have the best out-of-the-box support for dual monitors. Have you tried UltraMon?
