I have a Dell inspiron E1505 with windows XP Media. It has the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG wireless adapter. My problem is that It will stay connected to my router for several hours and then for some reason it loses the connection and does not reconnect. When I try to manually reconnect it will not. The only why I can get it to reconnect it to reset the adapter or restart the computer.
My question is: is the adapter going bad, or a problem with software?
I have updated the software and firmware. The computer is 2 years old and the battery has just failed and now the DVD drive is failing too... I'm wondering if the wireless adapter is failing now too.

Have you checked for updated drivers? Do you have other device in the house that use wireless?

Just to be clear, only the laptop is experiencing dropped connections? If that is the case, it does sound like the device is failing.
