When I close the lid of my E1505, and then reopen it, my screen changes resolution, its like the same, but blown up...so i have to put my mouse to the edge of the screen so I can scroll to each corner of my desktop, its weird.
Just wondering if there is a fix out there.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I've never had that problem, but I do remember reading a few posts a ways back with it. unfortunately I dont know the exact solution either, what video card are you using? and are the drivers up to date?
-
I have the same issue on my 1210 if the lid is closed more than 20 minutes. less than that and I am fine. Weird.

I had the same problem. You can actually fix it with some quick registry changes. I actually installed new drivers recently and have to do this again myself. The instructions are here: http://www.notebookforums.com/thread159740-5.html, but I'll copy the relevant info into the post here:
"have the same problem on my m90. I found a solution that seems to work.
Disclaimer: I'm not really sure what the registry value modified below does, nor can I guarantee that changing it will not have any side effects
The solution is to modify LidBehavior registry value in nvidia card registry key from 0x11 to 0x10:
Open registry editor (Run->regedit)
Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video registry key
There are several subkeys composed of random hexadecimal numbers. Each of those subkeys have its own subkeys 0000 and 0001. Find the key corresponding to the nvidia card. This is the key whose 0000 and 0001 subkeys contain a lot of values (such as individual games settings etc)
In 0000 subkey, find LidBehavior value. On my system, its default value is 11 (hexadecimal). Change it to 10 (hexadecimal)
Reboot
Edit: Most likely this will break dual display support in some way."
Like I said, I need to do this again myself, but I have done it before, and it solved the problem for me. Hope it helps you too. -
i have a dell inspiron 1501, and im having this same resolution problem after i close the lid on my laptop. i went through my registry editor and followed all the steps, but the lidbehavior value is no where in site. is there something i am doing wrong or is it different for my specific model of inspiron?

Same thing on my 1210 when it goes to sleep/hibernates. Such a weird and inconvienant thing
EDIT: Wow, just realized I repeated my OWN post from days ago. Awesome. -
I have a similar thing here with my E1705. The crazy thing is that the screen doesn't come back on either. I have to press the Fn+F8 keystroke for it to come back. I am using the standard Dell drivers for my video and I have tried the above fix to see if it helps at all.
-
Oh wow. I'm going to come back and say this fixes the screen not coming back on either. So both the screen power issue and the icons being relocated are fixed! This is great. Now to test the multi-monitor bit to make sure those are working...

hi,
I just bought Dell 6400 with ATI Radeon Mobility X1400 on Vista Home Basic and have same problem. I downloaded the video card driver and problem gone. Still testing it.
You can try downloading your video card driver at http://support.dell.com/support/dow...s&SystemID=INSPIRONI6400/E1505&os=WLH&osl=EN#
Hope this help, please post your result.
Cheers. -
My question is now, since I have windows XP, the drivers for my system have not been updated since last july, so can I use this driver for my xp system, even though it is for vista.
-
Look for video driver XP.
Problem: Close lid of 6400, when reopen changes resolution
