Problem: My Vostro 1400 doesn't always wake up when I open the lid after it's been in sleep mode

I just got my Vostro 1400 and am loving it. But I have a major concern when I used it today in class. I have it set so when I close the lid, the laptop goes to sleep. When I open it, it goes back on to the password screen. The first time I close the lid and open it, I can enter the password and go right back into Windows. The second time I close the lid and open it, the screen stays blank and the laptop is unresponsive until I shutdown and reset.

I did the same thing again later in the same class. First time close and open, I can get back into Windows Vista. The second time, blank screen and unresponsive. I had to reset again.

So now I have the close lid to just do nothing and not go to sleep. But I really want to fix the sleep problem because there will be times where i would rather put it to sleep manually and use later, and prefer not to have to reset again.

Can someone help me out? Thanks!

A friend of mine with the Vostro 1400 has this same issue. Odd.

Why not set it that you press the power button and it goes to sleep?

    Sounds like a good solution.

Great, so no luck on this based on the that article. Should I disable ReadyBoost and will it adversely affect performance? How do I disable it?

Yeah, I have it like this now. Closing the lid will only turn off the screen and not kick my Vostro into sleep mode.
