After performing a reformat and clean install of vista home, my laptop isn't performing as well as what it previously was gaming wise.

The Windows Experience Index now has a base score of 3.0 as follows:
    Processor: 3.0
    Memory: 3.3
    Graphics: 5.9
    Gaming graphics: 5.3
    Primary hard disk: 5.2

Before my reformat I was scoring around the 4.5 mark for processor and memory, I've reinstalled the Intel drivers and no change so far.

Any help would go a long way

WEI isn't very reliable but it does help somewhat to distinguish if there is an issue with a certain part or not (kinda like 3DMark).

Is your CPU running at full capacity? High Performance selected?

Also, you said you installed the Intel Chipset Utility?

How do I check to see if my CPU is running at full capacity? I didn't know you could set it to "High Performance"

I've installed the Intel Chipset Utility but can't see where to access a gui to the utility

I just did this Friday with mine. Are you SURE you got all the drivers?

On the start menu right click "Computer" then choose "Manage" from that context menu. Once the Computer management MMC opens then choose Device Manager.

Look for any yellow triangles with exclamation points.

These are my individual scores so you can compare what might be missing along with my config at in the sig to see if we are a close match):

    Processor: 4.9
    Memory: 4.8
    Graphics 4.7
    Gaming: 5.4
    Primary HD 5.0

edit... I guess from looking at your posted scores it appears to be processor/memory. Did you run test while the laptop was unplugged thus kicking in lower speed?

It does not allow the test to be run on battery power.
