    I just reformatted and installed all the drivers. The problem is that whenver i restart or boot up the computer, i get this screen asking me which operating system i would like to use, it gives me "Microsoft Windows XP Media Center" twice, it also gives me the option by pressing F8 to take me to another boot options screen. When i choose the first Windows XP one it boots up fine, when i choose the second it comes up with this error about the boot disk etc., anyone heard of this before? I did my reformat correctly - i've done tons of them by now. How do i get the computer to stop doing this? thanks.

    remove the offending line from your boot.ini

    Not to sure how to do that, where can i get the boot.ini file, and how do i know which line to delete?

    Also do you know why this happened? Out of all the formats i have done i have never seen this.

    Thanks!

    it's in your c: root directory.

    open with notepad or another text editor.

    once open, you'll know what to do.

    EDIT: forgot to say it happens in XP, but if you've only ever reformated 98, 2000, NT, etc., you wouldn't have seen it before.

    If you aren't sure of where your root directory is, there is another way. You can right click on my computer-->properties-->advanced-->startup & recovery settings-->click edit

    This is what it says;

    "[boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect"
