Everytime I try to apply for the Vista upgrade I get this message:

Sorry but we are unable to validate the information you have provided. Please review your Certificate of Authenticity, Dell Order number, Service Tag Number and/or Workstation Model number and try again at a later time. If you feel you are receiving this message in error, please select your country of origin's Dell Customer Care at www.dell.com.

How do I go about doing this? I have an e1705 and am running MCE.

Did you purchase the notebook after the start date of the program (I think 10/26)?

Also, Dell (sneakily) made the default option for online orders XP MCE and not XP MCE w/Vista Upgrade Coupon. I didn't notice this at first, so I'm guessing that quite a few others might not have either. Check your order form or invoice and see what came with the notebook.

If it does say it, it might just be a matter of having to wait for Dell's system to upgrade the info. That could take a week or two, especially if the computer was just purchased.

If you read the Vista Upgrade site, the "coupon" meant nothing. You're eligible if you chose the option or not.

My guess, is you have the wrong COA -- there are two numbers on the label. You need the one that is microscopic in size. Otherwise, you may have ordered before 10/26.

My wife's laptop upgrade order went through without a problem.

I ordered after 10/26, I will retry today when I get back to my laptop.
