I'm attempting to reformat my Dell xps m1210 and load xp professional, but when it loads all the drivers, and just before I'm able to repartition, a blue screen pops up with a message:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer...

If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver...

Update your BIOS (which I did but it didn't help). Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

    Technical info:

    *** STOP: 0x0000007E

    *** pci.sys - Address F76130BF base at F760C000, DateStamp 3b7d855c

Does anyone have an idea where I go from here? Thanks for any advice you care to offer!

    Dave

You probably need the SATA driver. You can slipstream it in using nLite.

Also, try looking for an option like "Enable SATA Mode", "Enable Lecagy Mode", "Enable IDE Mode" or something like that in the BIOS. Change it.

Just remember to change it back after the installation is done.
