    Hey All

I finally got my new laptop in the mail(Dell E1705), only to discover(when I turn it on), that the screen flickered constantly. I played around with the settings(changing resolution, removing/reinstalling monitor drivers), and finally got the flickering to stop, only to have my display be extremely grainy/fuzzy. It's like NES on an old school SD TV, very low res, everything is kinda fuzzy, not clear, etc. No matter what resolution i change it to, the fuzziness/graininess remains. Also, strangely enough, it reports that i have multiple monitors now(like 3 default monitors and one plug and play), and I can't remove them no matter what I do(graininess/fuzziness still remains no matter which monitor I choose). The only way that that the fuziness went away was when I went into safe mode, where the image became clear, just a little unclear(cuz it wasn't at the native resolution). I downloaded the new Nvidia Geforce 7900GS drivers and new LCD Screen drivers from the Dell website, and was planning on trying to update the ones that are currently on the system, but i won't be able to do that until later in the day. Do you guys have any tips/clues on how to fix this?

I would do like you have started out and install the latest drivers. See if that gets you anywhere. It is normal to have 3 or 4 monitors shown up in your device manager, so don't worry about that too much.

To me, it sounds like it has to be a driver problem since you were able to adjust the resolution and it stopped. If it was something physically wrong with the LCD, you would still have the flickering no matter what.

that's what I figured...a driver problem, especially since safe mode seemed to fix the problem
