Hey guys, i have been having some major issues with my battery on the m170 laptop.

Basically i lost all the life in the battery, one night the battery was perfect and then the next day it was totally messed up.

currently the battery thinks at full charge that it has 520368 mWH Meanwhile the battery's designed capacity is only 79920 mWH. It thinks it has a 16 hour battery life, but the truth is once you start discharging and are at 100% it will just drop all the way to 7% after a few minutes. Then it will run normally and discharge the 7% of battery life left. Then its stays at 7% for a minute or so and jumps down to 3%.

The battery wear in these programs says 0%. Is there something seriously wrong here?

When i go to recharge, the battery takes hours to recharge, and once it reaches around 7% it jumps all the way to 100% again.

Also that time the battery started to act up, the program actually started to tell me its time to replace the battery. But after a couple deep calibration cycles that message went away and the laptop started believing it had some super human lifetime.

Any idea what is going on? I tried to get a replacement from dell but because i was like 2 weeks out they wouldn't allow it.

Hope someone can tell me what is going on as i would like some explenation how a battery can just die 97% and then just have the beginning and end with some power in it.

When you say the battery was "fine" prior to the events described do you mean that you actually used it and it worked fine, or it was just reporting itself to be fine?
