I installed the Synaptics Driver from their website as I have heard Dell's lacks many of the features but I can't seem to access most of the features and after switching it on this morning the touchpad behaves erratically? What am I doing wrong.
I apologise for the noob question.

Dells newest alps driver seems to work fine with me and has some features, what features do you require?
-
What notebook model are you talking about? If your notebook has an Alps touchpad, then a Synaptics driver is not going to work.

It is a 1555 I was trying to get the three finger flick to work but the Dell driver doesn't support it, so I have tried the Synaptics one but not sure why the features aren't available.

ryesher, according to the Dell Studio 1555 downloads page, the laptop originally comes with Synaptics Touchpad drivers and the latest version for your laptop is 12.0.1.
you might want to try version 12.2.3. -
Thank you very much epguy3 I will try it later. I was under the impression that all synaptic features would work (ie three finger flick that I can't seem to do) but I guess a lot of it is down to the manufacturers drivers on what options are available or not.
Problems with installing Synaptics driver.
