when i first got my inspiron 1525 with vista 32-bit, when i closed the actual laptop, say an hour later i'd come back and it would ask me for my password, but now when i close it, it restarts it.

    NO IDEA.

and for some wierd reason it only happens after about 10 o'clock

Go to your power options and click "Choose what closing lid does". Set it to Do Nothing for now.

What do you mean by restart? Just shuts off and starts back on?
