I'm running XP on my 1420 and recently did a format and reinstall of XP. I'm wondering if I missed an important update or something because I'm now all of a sudden noticing that I'm having some difficulties coming out of standby. Probably 1 out of every 3 or 4 times I try to come out of standby it hangs and I have to reboot. I also did a bios update. Before the bios update I was having problems getting into standby where it just wouldn't sometimes. I haven't noticed this problem yet after the bios update. But I didn't have any of these problems before my reinstall.

Did you reinstall Dell Notebook System Software?

What is Dell Notebook System Software?

Still having this problem. Again, what do you mean by Dell Notebook System Software

Dell Notebook System Software is for Vista I believe. So no I didn't install it. I'm wondering if it could be an issue with Mcafee? I've never used it before but could it be preventing me from going into standby sometimes? It's hard to test out because it doesn't happen everytime. I did notice today though that my bluetooth dongle wasn't working and I had to restart to get it to power back on again but the restart didn't work and I had to manually power off. Whenever I can't enter standby, often times I can't restart either.
