Is it worth the jump to go from the 1.8Ghz C2D to the 2.0Ghz C2D or will I not notice the difference for normal tasks such as web browsing, word processing or playing some games?
-
It depends on what games you want to play
-
it does? I've seen the 1.6 do just fine. Stick with the 1.8 for the few dollars.
-
It will most likely only be Starcraft and Starcraft 2 when it comes out.
-
the jump may be good then and hey a fellow starcraft player
-
If you are using it for web browsing word processing and playing most games, you are ok with the 1.8Ghz...
If you are going into more advanced things that make use of both cores- like video editing, playing all the newest and future games, and programs that really munch on the processor, then choose the 2Ghz
Another thing is the cache. the 1.8Ghz has 2mb, and the 2Ghz has 4mb...
But, again, you should only feel the difference in processor intense applications. Overall, as long as it is a C2D, then for what you say you're doing its OK -
hes gonna play starcraft 2 so it may be worth it
-
I dont know, mainly because I never played starcraft...
-
What am i saying! The 1.8Ghz is probably more than you need. So far, I have never heard of a game that can only run on a C2D 2Ghz or higher processor... I recommend saving the money or upgrading ram instead.
-
I would say just save the extra cash and stick with the 1.8 i know this may seem hypocritical but i was forced into my 2.0 no regrets but i only planned on a 1.8
-
starcraft first of all has super low requirements, it was made a LOOONG time ago. SC2 = WC3 for the most part, you DON'T need a 2ghz unless you just want it.
-
I believe that I ran WC3 on integrated, and with a weak processor. The 1.8 is way more than you need
-
Now-a-days, it is more about how many core's are on the processor than the actual processor speed. Soon enough, quad-core processors will be mainstream, and in the near future we'll move up to octo-core processors. Speed still plays a factor, but that is only really apparent in working with heavy graphics applications.
-
starcraft 2 might be pretty intensive processor wise considering you have a 200 unit limit, 8 players with 200 unit limit can get really hectic.
