I use a digital projector for work, driving it off my 3-year old Dell Latitude. The Latitude is due for replacement, and I'm leaning towards an XPS 1330.

My projector runs native 1280x1024 with 4x3 aspect ratio. The rooms I normally work in have standard 4x3 format projector screens, so if the XPS 1330 can only project in wide-screen, viewing the screen will be like looking through a partly-closed window. This will be a pain for clients since they need to be able to view as much of the text I'm typing as possible.

Will the XPS 1330, with its wide-screen format, project smoothly in 4x3 format, or will it be limited to a wide screen view?

    Thanks,

    Ricketty

It should be fine. When going through an external display you should have the 4x3 resolutions also available to choose from. Thats what I think anyway - I should be receiving my M1330 in the next few days so can confirm then, if no-one else has.

When you select 4x3 to display lines of text, for example, on the external display, what do you see? Does the display show more lines of text than your laptop screen?

It depends on what dual monitor mode the video card is running in (clone, dual display). If it is cloned they have to be the same resolution so either the projector will be right and your monitor will be streched, or the monitor will be right and the projector will be squished. If it is in dual display (or whatever they call it), each will be independent and you would have to drag onto the projector whatever you are going to display on it.
