I decided to keep my e1705 w/ 7800...for the time being. How do I keep away a room mate or two from accessing the machine. I know that the 1st level of protection is physically making the PC inaccessible -- it's not quite possible since I'm not always home. Does WinXP MCE 2005 have a BIOS or OS password-protection? Thanks.

Yes, you can setup a password in the bios, not allowing the computer to be accessed. Just make sure you don't forget that password!!!

Also, you can set up users on the computer and require a password for login. This will stop some of that.

    Hope this helps!

Sure does, thanks. On an e1705, what's the key for bringing up BIOS?

I don't remember. I think it is like F2...but I am not at my I9300 so I can't really say for sure. :p

it is the F2 key. If you watch the top-Right portion of Your screen when you power-up the laptop, it will tell you the keys and options available to you. For any options in the BIOS refer to your user manual as it has some good info in there as well.

There are 2 passwords, one for the BIOS and one for the harddrive.

That is neat! Thank goodness for latest technology. I can't imagine my old eMachines w/ Win98 having such modes of defense. Thanks.
