I just got an automated phone call from Purolator saying that my Dell order would be delivered from 9 to 5 tomorrow.

There is a period of 2 hours when I absolutely cannot be home. The phone call said the driver would leave instructions if I am not home.

But, I don't like the not knowing...

Does anybody know what will happen if I'm not home when the delivery is attempted?

I imagine I could just go to their warehouse to pick it up, but I'm just curious.

Oh yeah, also, my tracking number says my package is in transit in the US, yet it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow in Edmonton, Canada... What's up with that?

If I'm not mistaken the driver will leave a card on your door with detailed information on where you can pick your parcel (address), as well at what time it will be available (most likely after 6 pm). If I remember correctly, you may also have an option to reschedule with a phone number to call.

Canada post, leave the little card in you're mail box, or door saying come pick up the package at the XXXX local post office.

Purolator, usually come back the next day again and try to deliver it. At least that's how they've done it with me. But no worries I imagine you can call and pick it up if you'd like.

Also the package says US, because they haven't likely updated the system with the new information. They'll do that in the morning I'd hope. When it says "on truck for delivery", get excited.

At least you got an phone call saying when. I had to go by when the dell website said it would be delivered. My dad ended up signing for it while i was gone at school. If no one is home and signs for it then it is like they never delivered it, they would likely phone you again to make sure that you will be home the next time they come.

    All the best

AdrianX, having used Purolator many times, if they can't reach you they leave a card on your door for you to reschedule or to pick up. That is when the sender does not want to have it "safe drop" ie, leave it at your door.
