I'm on the verge of buying a 9200 but just had a few questions first:
1) The current 25% deal seems like the best I've seen in a while. I've read posters say that usually the deals before Christmas aren't that great as manufacturer are expecting high volume sales and don't need to entice people with better deals.
For people who have been watching Dell prices for a while, does 25% seem like the best pre-Christmas rush deal they will offer? I just don't want to be snake bitten if something better comes along in a week or so.
2) I'm not that computer literate so this one might seem pretty basic: Which is more important for an overall faster performance from a laptop -- processor speed or memory? Basically, due to my budget, I'm forced to choose between upgrading to a 1.8 Ghz or going for 1 GB Ram.
3) Similarly, if I opt for the higher Ghz how easy is it to add additional memory to Dell laptops? Also, how many memory slots are there? If I go for 512 now, is it a better idea to go for the 1 DIMM... does this make upgrading to 1 GB easier/cheaper?

For starters, how long is the 25% deal going on for? That deal sounds pretty darn good for people on a tight budget. Second in performance wise the memory and a faster harddrive would be the most suitable and cheapest way to do it. Processor speed does play a role, but comparing by a 0.2-0.6 Ghz faster from a 1.6Ghz isn't that noticable. Last if you do go with a faster processor speed, upgrading the memory is very easy. It would require you to flip the notebook upside down, remove one or two screws, remove the lid, and seat in the memory in place and replace the cover and put it all back together. And yes it is better to buy the 512Mb (512MB x1) instead because it would be cheaper to go out and buy another stick which would range from $90 to $130 a piece.

Thanks for the info. The deal is going on until the 15th... check out the thread in this forum.
