I have a Dell Vostro 1400 laptop business purchase. I just found my driver CDs, etc. The laptop came with Adobe Premiere Elements & Photoshop Elements. However I was not given reinstallation CDs for Adobe products? I want to do a complete reinstall of my entire system because I want to repartition and dual boot with linux, etc. That means I'll lose Adobe Premiere Photoshop Elements (which are not freeware). If we paid for these software, shouldn't Dell give us the CDs for them too?

You can try contacting Dell. If you're missing a CD or need an installation CD of something you payed for, they should send it to you without any problems.

That's the thing, I don't think Dell supplies CD for non-Dell software. Like they give us Norton Anti-Virus... Adobe Elements.. both non-freeware... and the programs work fine just as if we own them... but on my receipt it says No CD given for those 2 software.

    Weird

Dell doesn't supply CDs for preinstalled software. For instance, Microsoft Office doesn't come with an actual CD, it comes preinstalled.

My advice is never set up preinstalled software for that very reason. Considering recovery back to factory condition is only from a hidden hard drive partition, it also creates a larger hassle if you ever want to upgrade hard drive, reinstall, etc.

Oooh, so if I got MS Office through Dell for my XPS m1530 I can't do Les/flamenko's Reformat without losing Office?

That's REALLY lame if that's always the case. Dell DOES include a real Windows CD (one of the only companies to do so) but they should do that with all the software they include. They used to (as recently as '04 I think, if not latter).

In my experience, Dell DOES supply CDs for non-Dell, preinstalled software. I got a CD for Intuit QuickBooks which was preinstalled on my laptop. And some years earlier I got an MS Office CD with a different Dell laptop purchase.

I would try calling them about it. Can't hurt.

I'll wait until I get the laptop (tomorrow) and see if I have an MS Office CD. If I'm unable to obtain a CD, I'll just clean the Bloatware and create an Image with Acronis. No big deal :) !

Dell does supply software. It will simply state on the CD "Licensed only for distribution with a new PC" etc~

If it's on your invoice all you have to do is contact DELL support & they will ship you the product.

Recently purchased XPS m1530 & the OS, Works 9, Both Adobe CDs, McAfee, Audigy, roxio & the driver cds all came with the puter.

note: don't use McAfee, Roxio, Works 9~
