Hello, if you could assist me in this inquiry, any help would be appreciated!!

This laptop is about two years old, and the only previous incident this computer has had before was software related.

Currently my keyboard has stopped working the way it should (let it be known I'm typing this message from a separate computer). The majority of the left side of the keyboard is working properly; however, certain keys on the right side either don't function or cause a series of other actions (such as multiple random letters or even other operations like bringing the "would you like to save" etc.).

I have never had keyboard issues in the past, so this is a first. At one point, I have restored my computer and I've made sure I am up to date on all of my drivers, as well as Windows XP Updates. This problem occurred while watching a DVD on K-Lite. Before I started the movie, everything worked - towards the end of the movie, the computer kept automatically pausing the DVD. And that's when I noticed the problem. Also let it be known there has been no external trauma caused to the computer (such as spilling a drink, etc.)

So if you could offer any input or suggestions, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

    Michael

It might be a loose ribbon cable. If you pull the keyboard up, you can reseat that cable and see if that helps.

Thank you for your input. I have just tried this, and unfortunately I found nothing wrong. Do you have any other suggestions? This is much appreciated. Thank you again.

Just a quick bit, it all of the sudden started to work properly for about ten minutes and then resumed its misbehaving-ness.

    That's weird.
It might just be the keyboard, and it might be the mobo, hard to tell.
