As you all know there was some new information released about future Lenovo laptops X200, SL, T and R series. Well according to the information the X200, SL, T and R series are using ddr3 ram, so i was wondering do you guys think the dell Inspiron 1535, 1735, 1435 will be using ddr3 memory. Also whats the advantages using ddr3 memory?
thanks in advance
sorry if this seems like a wierd question. Im waiting for them to release the 1435,1535 to buy one

They will be capable of using DDR3 memory simply because of Montevina being capable of handling it.
Main differences between DDR2 vs DDR3 is:
1. DDR2's rated voltage is 1.8v and DDR3's is 1.5v. The old DDR for example had 2.5v.
2. DDR3 has a 8bit prefetch buffer whereas DDR2's is 4bit-wide. This allows for a higher bandwidth and that's why DDR2 tops at 800 (400Mhz effective) and DDR3 tops at 1600 (800Mhz effective). The latencies cannot compete with this, so DDR3 IS faster.
As for the overclocking room, I have zero experience with standard DDR3 modules. Maybe you'll be able to gather a bit of indirect info relating video card DDR3 memory overclocks.
Though it is more expensive. -
okay thanks for the info
