I just purchased a Dell 1700 with the WUXGA Screen, my question is I put it on the 1280x800 resolution for it to be comfortable for me and I was wondering if this is changing the quality? the WUXGA is still better than the XGA even though am putting it on 1280x800 right?

It's best to use native resolution. Always. If you want to use 1280x800 all the time, get a 1280x800 screen, any more will be a waste of money and look bad in 1280x800.
-
once you deviate from the native resolution everything will be blurry and nasty looking. especially going from wuxga to wxga.
-
what I didn't like about it was the very small mouse and text it was very ahrd to fix, how do I help this?
-
Look for some scaling options.
-
how do I do that?
-
I am actually starting to get use to it now.
-
It will be blurry if you take it out of it's native resolution.

Using the Default Resolution for your screen would be best and you can change the Font size as well as Icon size.
To change Font size, right click your desktop and choose Personalize. Then in the left pane, click on the "Adjust font size (DPI)" link. After you do that, a type of warning will pop up asking for your permission to continue. Just hit the Continue button and move on. (That is only there because you're changing something on your computer and they want to make sure it really is okay with you). Next, click the option that says "Larger scale (120 DPI) - make text more readable." When you're all finished, click OK.
To change Icon size:
1. Open display propeties
2. Click on the APPEARANCE tab
3. Click ADVANCED button at bottom of window
4. Click on the drop down list in the ITEM field
5. Highlight ICON from the list
6. Change ICON size. in the box to the right.
Play with these settings until you find a comfortable viewing size.
For surfing the web, you can change the Font size also:
On the tool bar to the top left of IE, click View, then go to Text Size and choose one that suits your needs.
