So I just ordered my M1330, which is my first Dell ever. I have been using IBMs for a very long time. Anyway, I called today to change the order, and the lady on the phone, though quite polite and I'm sure very nice, could BARELY SPEAK ENGLISH! It was really hard to understand her, and when I apologized about some noise in the background (violent thunderstorms in NYC), she seemed to have no idea what I was saying. She really could only communicate about the basic terms regarding the computer. Now, this was just to change an order, but does anyone with a Dell know if this is common when they call for servicing, etc.? What country are their service reps located in??? Or was she just an exception? I'm very worried now, since computers have a tendency to break on me A LOT.

Well, I would stay clear from the phone chat. I would instead try the dell chat support online. The online chat support is much better and you will get better results.

Oh, I didn't even think of that! Thanks! I always feel so nervous about online chats for some reason, since I worry they'll type faster than me, or something stupid like that. But you don't have a language issue with then? i'm curious what other people's experience has been.

No, for me I never use phone chat. The online people seem more educated and most of the time I can't tell they are foreign except for their name

it really is dell's worse problem
    they outsource to india
they hardly speak english there (basically the way to get promoted there is to speak better english lol)
    It's so annoying
I had an issue with my laptop that lasted over 2 years and finally I just communicated through email only, at least I can understand them since it's text!
I can't stand talking to them on the phone

As soon as you've paid them you no longer to talk to people in America, it sucks

For a while (unless they still do it) they gave every indian a fake "American" name like George and Michael and Billy-Bob.
But when I deal with them through email I always see something indian like vashmish or somethin

Yes! This lady's name was "Caroline"! Gee, I wonder what ungodly hour of the morning it was in India when I called. That was the one thing I was particularly worried about with switching to a dell (that and the keyboard too), was that I haven't heard good things about their service.

Fortunately... I looks like I won't have my M1330 to service for more than a month anyway!

I wouldn't worry about it too much, just stick to chat sessions and the support is fine most of the time. The only problems I've had are when they try to make you jump from department to department.
