So, they sent me a new E1405 b/c my MediaDirect software wasn't working at all (Media Experience also didn't work when pressing the MD buttons). However, the new one they sent me has a really poor screen (I think it's the LG). Anyway, the screen is grainy and has poor viewing angles (i.e. there are dark spots in the corners when I look at it). It has also a decent amount of light leakage which is bothersome when I watch movies on it.

So the question is, should I just take out the hard drive in the new one they sent me and put it in my old one that has the good screen? Then send back the new one with the (what Dell called) a corrupted hard drive. They actually offered to either send me a new laptop or a refurb HD, so of course I opted for the new laptop at the time.

Do I need to tell Dell that I'm going to do it or just send it back with the old hd. I figure it's pretty much the same as them sending me a refurb hd anyway.

i'd say keep the harddrive and send back the replacement system... or swap the LCD and keep the new system...
