    Hi All,

I read a poster before (probably in CNET) regarding playing a music CD and the standby mode. It states that I6000 can play the CD while the lid is closed. What happens to my I6000 is that the music play stops a couple of seconds after the lid is closed (in standby mode). After the lid is opened and the computer is activated, you have to reactivate the Window Media Player to play the music. Do other people's I6000s behave the same as mine? I wonder how you can play the CD while the lid is closed. Any advices?

One more thing. My I6000 comes with a 8X DVD+/-RW drive. When playing the music, I can clearly hear the fast clock-tiking-like noise coming out the drive. It is very persistent and obvious. Do you guys have the same issue?

Thank you very much for any help in advance.

    Jay

i've never heard of any computer being able to provide any functionality in standby... for all intents and purposes, standy is the same thing as 'off'.

    jtn,
You can do it by going into Dell's quickset menu and on one of the tabs, you can tell it what you want it to do when the lid is closed, ie. Stand-by, Hibernate, or Nothing. You can set this to be different based on whether you're on battery or AC power.
    Hope it helps!

Chief, Thank you so much! It would serve like a CD player without turning on the screen. I will try it tonight.
