I have the I6000 with the 128MB ATI X300 card and was wondering what kind of capabilities my laptop has. I know it's not a gaming computer, but I was hoping I could do some light gaming every so often.

Games I would be interested in playing:

    Tiger Woods 06
    Fifa 06
    NHL 06
    NBA 06
    Flight Simulators
Maybe a FPS, but nothing too crazy. I was wondering if anyone knew if I can run any of those games or similar.

I'm really just looking for some games to keep me busy when I'm stuck somewhere with nothing to do. The computer is pretty loaded (2 GHz processor and 2GB RAM), but I fear my X300 card is gonna hold me back.

Also, if anyone has any experience with games that work well for this computer, please feel free to give me some suggestions.

No, it won't hold you back much unless your playing the latest FPS games at high settings. You should be fine.

Really? I've heard some people say nothing works good and I've heard others say they have no problems with the card.

I can't really see why it would. I don't think the system requirements are too high on those games. I have GMA900 graphics in my laptop which are 1/3 as powerful as the X300 and I have run Swat 4 at 1024x768 on low quality with no problems.

Cool. I was actually thinking about getting that game. I enjoyed the demo I played a few years ago. Does it look good at that low quality setting?

yeah i've got a 6000 2ghz 80gb 5400rpm 1 gig 128mb x300 UXGA (1920X something) and i can do call of duty 1 and halo just fine. The only hitch with COD1 was that it took about 10 tries to install it... it just couldn't start up the second disc and finish the install... it could've been running too hot or whatever. i'm curious to find out, but the fps should work just fine unless you're uber gamer paranoid with teflon tape on the underside of your mouse. but in that case, you should have another lappy.

I think some people under estimate some integrated cards.
Integrated cards CAN play games like strategy games and for some people thats all they want. :) . Modern FPS will not run good at all.. But if you want your graphics to be outstanding get a Dedicated card.

The X300 is dedicated. And from everyone who actually has one, they claim to have no trouble playing games. It's the people who don't have one who say it sucks.

My friend has a X300. He plays mostly World of Warcraft on it. He plays on medium settings and everything runs great! Then he also was able to play FEAR on lower settings. It looked great! And if you overclock the X300 it really isn't a bad card at all ;)

Been playing Battlefield 2 since my laptop (i6000) arrived and it runs fine on an x300. Tried running BF2 on medium settings and still runs fine. May load a little longer on medium settings but still very playable.

Dungeon Siege 2 also runs fine!

Lets see, you can play lots of games. I tend to play FPS. I have played Far Cry with textures and environment on high, trilinear filtering on, 2x anisotropic filtering, and the water quality on medium at about 40-50 FPS. I have also played CoD 1 with all the setting on high with no problems at all. Quake 4 is even playable on low to medium setting. By the way I am running all of these games at 1280 x 800 resolution. I also am overclocking my card to 400/320 during gaming. This card will play things just fine for you. Just don't always expect the best setting on everything, just play around with things until you find what works best! :)

I'm thinking that's the case. I just got SWAT 4 from direct2drive, and I'm running at 1280 x 1024 high quality with no problems.
