I understand that this is a guessing game. I've not been in the notebook buying market for a long time, so I'm simply looking for what others might know based on experience or whatever. :)

If the prediction of an early January 2008 announcement is true (the guess is that Dell will announce new LED options for the M1530 on Jan 6th I think) then when would Dell actually start making these available for ordering?

From what I can glean from all of the other threads I've read, that date will probably be the end of Jan 2008.

M1330 followers - does anyone remember when Dell anounced the option and when they were actually available for ordering?

This is one of my first posts here - great website all. Very helpful all the way around.

    Thanks all!

Just what I have heard multiple others say on the forums here - could be totally wrong. I'm not sure what that date was based on - that is a Sunday so maybe I have the date wrong? I will try to chase down a forum link.

According to an older post by Sinstoic, the Dell XPS 1530 will get an 1440x900 LED in the January to March 2008 timeframe. That is the only 15 inch LED planned for the 1530.

The only other hint as to the timing of an LED panel comes from a Dell video dated November 27, 2007 at:
    http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2007/11/27/36410.aspx
    http://media.dellone2one.com/dell/November2007/XPS_M1530.wmv

    http://media.dellone2one.com/dell/November2007/XPS_M1530.ogg
that says that the M1530 should have additional lid colours, displays and software (Win XP?) "after the holidays."

I don't think that January 6 date refers to the availability of LED's on the 1530. It refers to the release of mobile dual-core Penryn CPU's and the release of new PC models with Penryn expected to be launched at CES on January 6:
