I recall reading about this a few weeks ago but could not find the previous post. Is the RAM for the 6000 400MHz or 533MHz. I helped my brother order a computer earlier tonight then just remember reading that dell skimps on the RAM. Am I making this up ? I want to make sure that the RAM is 533 or I will get it else where. Just need a couple confirms then this post can fade to black. Thanks in advance. Also is the 6000 UXGA as sweet as on the 9300 ?
Cheers.
J.

Dell 6000 should support both 400 and 533MHz RAM. Usually Dell uses 400 MHz RAM to keep the cost low.

I think WUXGA is very nice on mine. I don't have a 9200/9300 to compare though.

the 6000d supports 533 mhz. but the dell ships with 400 mhz. The only computers that ship with the 533 mhz ram are the 1 gig + 9200, gen xps, and some of the lats/newer notebooks I believe.

My 6000 was shipped with PC3200 DDR2 memory (512MB, 2x256MB)
I guess, for optimal performance, you'd want 2 dimms of similar dinomination to take advantage of dual channel features of this unit, and aim for PC4200 (533MHz).
If you care about performance and cost, then order it with the cheapest configuration with the minimum of 1.6GHz P-M (to get 533MHz FSB), and then order the RAM separately from other suppliers to suite your needs.

Does the 6000 non D support 533Mhz RAM?

I'got you question.I asked that in another topic but didn't get an answer, so I'm trying it here.Do you lose your warranty if you open a LAptop to upgrade your RAM?.Thanks a lot for answer

thanks

It does in fact support 533mhz Ram, just installed 2 x 512

Taratravis, on boot press f2, it will then enter the bios, scroll into memory and the speed will be shown.
