    When Montevina comes out, will the Studio line offer it as an option within the month or later? This line was originally meant for Montevina, so I would think that they'd offer it ASAP, but then again, I don't want to take any chances.

    This answer mainly affects whether I will get Montevina or not.

    Really? Well now, this changes everything.

    Wait a minute, what would the price increase look like? A few hundred or several hundred?

    I doubt the studio line will get montevina the day it comes out. Dell usually gives priority to its XPS series whenever it implements new major components followed by a trickle down to its lower-end series in the weeks following the release. The studio was not created with montevina in mind since it fits the current motherboard layout. Montevina is significantly smaller. Had the studio line been created specifically for Montevina, it would not be able to fit the current generation motherboard layout. It'd also be a pretty strange move on dell's part to offer these components for less than a month before replacing them with the Montevina line.

    i think it will be soon after, we'll see. but I thought Studio was created with Montevina in mind as well. and I'm guessing because of he delays on intel's part they're offering earlier.

    it won't. outgoing santa rosa and incoming montevina will use the same penryn processors (t8100+). it's a platform change, not a processor one.

    Which means a 25W voltage as opposed to 35W, a faster FSB, better integrated graphics(still useless, lol), and Wimax, whatever that is.

    So this Montevina upgrade is up in the air? Great.

    Are there any upgrades with Montevina that I missed?

    other than the ability to use ddr3 ram, it really isn't a big deal or a giant improvement from santa rosa

    * High-Def video playback does not need a dedicated graphics card
    * Wifi/Wimax combo cards
    * DDR3 Ram (800, 1066, or 1333)
    * 2nd version of Turbo memory (now 2GB instead of 1GB)
    * DisplayPort support
    *Support for 8GB of ram

    Its essentially long range Wireless. It has a greater range than Wifi. Thats the basis of what you need to know.
