If i configure the Vostro 1400 and 1500 to the specs below:

    Intel Core 2 Duo T5470 Processor (1.6GHz,800MHz,2MB L2 cache)
    2GB RAM
    8400M GS
    Vista Home Premium

and say if do the same tasks on each (sufing the net, downloading, listening to music), how much extra battery life would i get out of the Vostro 1400 (14") compared to the Vostro 1500 (15") ?

    Thx for ur time

I would say none, or a few minutes at most

Minimal change in battery life as both systems are on the same platform (Santa Rosa). A lot of the power drains will be nearly identical between the systems (CPU, HD, GPU, RAM...) so you are only saving a bit of energy to light the smaller screen.

Are you sure as i heard the smaller screen will give more battery life or will it only be small like 5-10 mins or bigger like 30 mins?

The battery life is not going to be drastically different.

I would definitely go for the 1400 if you want portability. I carried around 15"/15.4" notebooks for a number of years until I finally switched to something smaller.
