I would like to upgrade to 2gb in my dell e1505 and i was wondering: Do I have to order a 2x1gb kit in order to support the dual channel function, or can i just buy 2 of the same 1gb sticks. I do not see any pc2 5400 2gb sets on newegg, so that's why I'm asking.

As long as you buy two 1 GB sticks of the same specs and manufacturer you will have dual channel mode enabled. You do NOT need to buy a 2x1GB kit for this to work.

With the new chipsets, you can supposedly use different sizes and speed of ram and still receive dual channel support, so you could do something like 1gb+512mb and still have dual channel.

For the best support, of course, you'll want to do 2 sticks of the same size/speed. Most of us just buy our ram from newegg.com and purchase 2 of whatever we product we decide to get.

i just ordered two of these.

They seem to have good reviews, and cheap.

Yah, Transcend is a good brand. I'm running the 2 of the 533 MHz version of that stick in my e1505.

Look for PC5300, there are more options - it's the same as PC5400:

The only difference is how the manufacturers number it. To get that number (PC5400), they take the clock speed of the memory (667MHz), multiply it by eight (667 * 8 = 5336), and then round. Some round up, others down, makes no difference - it's the same stuff.
