Ok all.....I have a slight annoying problem and am looking for a solution. I have a Dell Studio 1536 of which I love(I know but I'm a AMD fan). I have recently updated the bios from A01 to A03 per the Dell support site and have had an issue pop up since then.

While using the computer, the fingerprint scanner will keep trying to scan over and over again. The catch is that I'm NOT putting my finger to it at all. Its not dirty or blocked in any way. Any thoughts or idea's?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

Have you tried re-installing the software. Also, how did you get the 1536?

Well, I didn't want to try that yet for the fact that I wanted to wait and ask here to see if anybody knew of issues like this(holy run on lol).

The Dell rep that we work with knew I was an AMD fan found one for me. Im grateful. :)

    Thanks,
    Rob

Hmm I haven't seen the 1536 on their site. We had assumed the notebook was mothballed.

I don't know. But, I have only had it for a little while(couple weeks). Its brand new, bought through our Dell Rep. I just spoke with him the other day about getting one for the wifey also.

Well, I guess I'm going to go ahead and reinstall and see if that corrects the issue.

    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

are you saying it tries to scan anything that's over it like a palm?

mine does that too. i think it just detects any biometric prints from anywhere.

No, my hand isn't even close to it when it does it.
Hmmm, I tried to reinstall and it is still doing it. It only started after I did the BIOS update. Guess I'll try dropping to A02 and see if that corrects it. If not, guess I'll call Dell.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob

Well, I stepped back to the A02 bios update from A03 and the problem has went away. Weird.

The only reason I did this was the problem had only started after the bios update.

    Hopefully it sticks.

    Thanks,
    Rob
