Maybe this info is somewhere else but I haven't come across it.
Does having a laptop plugged up most of the time cause the battery to develop a memory or does the amount of time you let the battery drain and recharged cause it to develop a memory.
I have a Lion battery-6 cell I believe.

i'm not sure that i understand your question.

The battery was built to have a memory or it wasnt. Its not something that develops over time.
Also, most lithium ion batts dont use memory anymore as it tends to mess things up. -
What I'm asking is..........
Will having my laptop plugged up most of time cause the battery to age quicker...
for example.....
My last lap has a battery life of like 3 hours when I first got it. I kept it plugged up alot. By the time it was maybe a year old, the battery life was more like 45 mins. -
"How to prolong lithium-based batteries"
The link above answers your questions. Short answer is no. With your last laptop you should've tried contacting the manufacturer, 75% battery wear in one year ain't normal unless you were fully discharging it every single day and even then it seems very excessive. -
Perfect! Thanks.
That provided a lot of good info. -
If I were you I would get in the habit of unplugging my laptop when im not using it. I think it puts more ware on the battery even though it isn't on. When it is off there is still a battery light flashing and if your computer is blugged into the Internet there is also a network light flashing when its not turned on. So power is still trickiling and its going through the battery.
