    Question about my laptop order

    Hey all, I ordered a studio xps 16 this past Sunday with the extra 9 cell battery for $100 (feel bad for the people that ordered it after me since the price went up lol). The battery and laptop ship seperately. The battery is already in Ohio and the laptop is still in production, but the estimated delivery date for the laptop is only 2 days after my battery (8/12 for laptop, 8/10 for battery) does that mean my laptop must be close to finished?

    Dell's EDD's are usually very conservative. Most orders will get delivered a week before their EDD.

    I feel bad for you actually. Dell just had a deal that gave a 9 cell upgrade. lol
    You missed i by a week or so...

    lol. well I just checked my status this morning and it says it's been shipped! Estimated arrival time is now 8/5 instead of 8/12...and the battery is already in the town over to me.

    Congrats!

    I think you will be VERY impressed with the 1640 (design and buil quality is AWESOME).

    Don't know if you have ever owned an Inspiron or other Dell laptop but the 1640's build qualtiy was WAY more solid than any other Dell I owned, except maybe the 1730 :)

    I currently use a Latitude D800...it's been rock solid for over 5 years now (I got it a few years ago from my dad who had it for a few years before that...and now my brother has this laptop since I'm getting the new one).

    The accessories will usually ship ahead of the *build* of your lappy..(yep the battery is considered an accessory) ;)

    i ordered mine last Thursday and its still in production! expected it to take a bit longer to ship to Canada, but why is the build taking longer?

    I said *usually*, not definitely...It depends on each individual *order*. :rolleyes: Mine shipped ahead of my order, his shipped ahead of his order, a few other forum members shipped ahead of their orders..

    Yep got the battery yesterday, and the laptop is expected to arrive either Tuesday or Wednesday (weird that the battery came via UPS and the laptop is coming via FedEx).

    Sometimes the divisions will ship differently, and also it depends what Distribution Center is shipping them. The Canon camera I recently received from Dell, was shipped via UPS. But, then again...I received 2 Notebook mice, and they were shipped via Fed Ex!

    Glad that your lappy will be arriving by next Weds :D

    It's weird that FedEx still has it in the initiated stage even though it says it'll be here tomorrow.

    Edit: Never mind, they finally updated the tracker once the darn thing arrived in my township lol. It'll be here tomorrow for sure!
