I ordered my 1420 on 7/19 with an estimated ship date of 8/15 and a delivery date of 8/20-22. Then when I called in today to check it said my order was in the boxing stage but the ship date was still 8/15.

Now my question is does it really take 12 or more day to box it before shipping? That seems like a long time. I'm concerned because I leave for college on the 18th and with the current delivery date I will be gone by then :( Thanks

My order was in the boxing stage for 3 days before it was shipped. I'm sure it'll ship a lot sooner than 12 days.

I don't want to disappoint you but maybe it's not in the boxing stage. Unless you get it in a few days, it's probably still in build.

For your sake, I hope it's in boxing!

Keep calling, and checking, because they do mess up the status sometimes. Yesterday it told me my order shipped, today it is delayed again to August 28, and back in the build stage.

dell usually gives you a really overdrawn ship date so that if you get it early you're really happy, but if you get it at the predicted time, you don't feel cheated.

my guess is that you'll get your new lappy before or at 8/15

Be aware of dell's system, Order>Build>delay(if luck no delay)>testing>boxing>delay>delay>delay>back to build stage>Delay thats all they know, they haven't figured out what to do after boxing yet so they just send it right back to build stage.

What I don't understand is, when do you find out that your computer has been delayed until "this new shipping date"? Mine is supposed to ship on Monday for a Tuesday delivery, and it still says that on both the webiste and the phone. In fact, I have to click on order history on the website, since it's been 3 weeks and it already says "I have no recent orders"! I know my laptop isn't going to come on Tuesday, so when am I going to find out when it is coming?

Call CSR via phone and give them your order ID and they will look it up. From what I understand, if you ordered via EPP, it wont show up on your account on Dell.com unless you have an EPP account.

If you order via EPP, you need to manually add EPP orders as it generates a new Customer Number under the EPP segment.

You need your Customer Number, Order Number, and Billing Zip Code:
    - Log Into Your Dell.com Profile Account
    - Under "My Account Settings" on the bottom right, click "Customer Numbers"
    - Below the list, you will see where you need to enter the new info.
    - Enter Info then click "Add Customer Number"

You can add them at anytime after the order is placed!

Didn't use EPP. I did two builds, one through my company's discount site, the other through dell.com, no difference. Just used dell.com.

    I get error:

Only Home & Home Office, Small Business, Dell Refurbished and Dell Outlet customer numbers can be added using this feature. This customer number has not been added to your account.

I tried that, but it said it's for home and small business orders only or something like that

Sorry. The Rep that added mine said that would work. Try having an online chat REP to add it for you. I guess they have to do it. Mine are all on my Acc Profile for both EPP and Non-EPP.

Some purchases especially for accessories are cheaper when not using the EPP segment!
