I ordered a laptop from Dell a few weeks ago. It was configured for a little over $1400 but I got it for about $950 after the $500 off coupon. The gift card still showed up in the list of coupons and savings when I was ordering, and it's also in the order confirmation email I got, but I don't see it in the order status page on Dell's web site. Should I still expect to get it?
The guy I talked to from Dell's customer service said there's no way I'm getting the card because my laptop cost under $1000, but it was still in my cart even after I took $500 off, so does it depend on the price after coupons or the price that the laptop was configured for? For those of you who paid over $1000, do you see the gift card on the order status page where your computer's configuration is shown?

I talked to a sales rep with the same question a couple of weeks ago after placing my order; supposedly the amount used is the total before anything is applied like coupons, tax or s&h, so you should be getting your gift card.

It's the total that matters I think.. dont settle for what they tell u.. try configuring something on Dell's site and see what card it shows in cart..

I was wondering the same thing -- in my original email confirmation it shows a $150 gift card (based on the configuration price before discounts) but various sales reps have told me I'd get the $50 one based on my discounted total. To compound the issue, if you make a change to your order (like I did) the sales reps say you'll still get your gift card, but the email confirmation doesn't mention it. Anyways, gift card or not, Dell was still one of the best deals (if not the best deal) out there the past few weeks.

I think we get the gift card before the discount. In fact now the dell site specifically states that (see attached screen grab)
