I order a refurbished inspiron 1705 with a duo core T2500 (2ghz) processor. When I received my confirmation email, the info was all correct. However, when I went to dell.com to check my order status, the processor was listed as a
    T1500, not a T2500.

Calling customer support didn't help. After 30 minutes of transferring from department to department, I got disconnected. Then I used the chat. One guy said that it indeed was a t2500, and the second guy said that it was a
T1500. So now I basically have no idea what is coming, since it already shipped.

My only source of optimism is that I don't recall seeing a T1500 avaliable with the inspiron1705... in fact, I dont even know what a T1500 is. I think it's just a typo. However, since it is a refurbished system, I worry that maybe a T1500 was available at one time on the e1705 system.

I was hoping someone might be able to tell me what a T1500 is, if it exists, and whether or not it was ever available in the inspiron 1705.

It looks like there is a Intel Core T1500. It's a single core 2.0ghz processor. I sure as hell don't want to end up with that, after ordering a dual core.

    Hmm...

The only single core CPU available on the E1705 is a T1300 - I think it's a typo. I say wait 'till you recieve your notebook and then check the CPU - if they messed up your order, you can always send it back for a replacement.

I don't think there is even a single-core 2.0 out (yet). I've only seen 1.66 core-solos. If it's any consolation, the first line on my paper invoice is "Base, Notebook, Core, T1400, 9400/E1705...", even though I ordered and received a T2400 (1.83GHz). Maybe you can look up your product code to be sure (mine was "FF187").

Yeah, they do offer that t1300. I'm just hoping that the t1500 wasn't available at some point in the past, and they just listed the wrong processor at the dell outlet.

I surely do not want to have to deal with returns. This is about the third problem I have had with this order, and dealing with tech support has been a nightmare. I imagine a full return would be even worse. Not to mention, it is a refurbished system, and it took several days before a good one popped up, and with the 7800 no longer available, I doubt the stock of outlet models with 7800's will last long.

How would I go about looking up the product code?

I've been tracking E1705s in Home, Small Business, and Outlet. I have never seen a T1500.

That's good to hear. I'm feeling a bit better about this now.

It still sucks though. This order has been a real hassle. I will not be able to relax until I receive the laptop, and it is correct. Until then, I get to spend my time riddled with anxiety over the whole issue.

People are not kidding when they say dealing with dell is the worst. Luckily, I know the 1705 is a quality machine, so if the order is correct, I can be done with all the headache.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received my laptop today and it indeed is a t2500, like I ordered. And boy does it rule! Just got done playing half-life 2 at the highest widescreen resolution with every graphic option on high, and a terrific framerate, which looked just as constant as when I set the game to 640x480.
