    Hello all,

I'm looking into possibly getting one of Dell's new notebooks. It looks like most (if not all) of them are going widescreen. I was wondering if any of you are connecting your widescreen notebooks with a 'standard' display via remote desktop connection. How does it look? Specifically, I'd like to use the notebook to connect with my pc at work. However, if say I get a WXGA notebook at 1280x800, how will it look/work connected to my pc/display at work which is set at 1280x1024?

This may actually be a RDC question, but would the notebook try to 'fit' 1024 into 800, or would it just make me scroll? If I remember right, using a smaller resolution (1024x768) actually changed what was on my desktop from 1280x1024 to 1024x768. I wouldn't want that.

Guess I'll look into it a bit more, but wondered what your experiences have been.

    TIA,
    --Dan

Well...it will put it in a windowed mode. At least that is my experience. You will have to scroll for that small amount ~200 pixels. So it shouldn't be that bad.

    Hope this helps!

I will be getting my new e1505 today. If I like it, I will be installing the company VPN next week. I can let you know how it looks.

generally speeking the rdp client tells the server what resolution it wants the display to be. it does not matter at all what resolution you have the phisical monitor on the server set up as.
