Question for 1520 Owners: How long did it take to ship?

I ordered a 1520 on Sunday and it says it will ship on the 20th. I really really want it by the 20th so I dont have to wait a full week before I can get my hands on it. How long did it take you guys to recieve it?

Mine is a 2.2Ghz, 2GB, 160gb 7200rpm, 2x9cell, WSXGA+ screen, bluetooth and a 8600gt

 

i was supposed to get mine today..... i even authroised them to deliver it without signature but...... ive got to get it from their depot TOMORROW!!!!!

 

ordered June 28, recieved July 10.

 

Don't expect it too soon, i ordered mine 6/27, and it still is in the build stage. There is a back order on the 1680x1050 screens(that is the wsxga+ right?) and you will likely have to wait until ~your estimate to get your notebook. I would guess +/- 1 or 2 days to actually recieve your notebook from estimated ship date.

I have confirmed there is a back order, but everything else is purely my own personal random guess

 

I had to get a replacement for my 1520 (stupid dell my 1520 came in dead on arrival). The repalcement was ordered yesterday and supposidly I will be getting it the 19th.

 

Mine was Wxga (or whatever the 1400x900 is), so that explains why I got mine already

Argh about the WSXGA+ being back ordered, I ordered my 1520 on July 1, and it has been in production for over a week (July 2-July 11), my original delivery date was the 17th, right now I'm thinking it will be lucky if it makes it by then, i'm not happy.

 

You guys arnt making me feel better lol.

I love this old 700m but it has no sound and Im getting tired of keeping it at 600mhz to keep it from getting too hot. I want my new laptop :-(

I ordered mine on 7/14. Original ship date is this 8/1 but the automated service still says its in the build stage. I'm starting to think I'm not going to get this computer on time. I have to go back to school soon and If I don't have it I'm going to be pissed.........

 

Ship? What is ship? I don't think Dell knows the meaning of this word...

 

Ordered Jully 8th, Estimated to ship 23rd, delayed, Estimated to ship tomorrow the 30th, but its still in build and will be delayed again. That, and they won't give me ar eason fo rthe delay.. so.. I have to reorder most likely as im probably gonna have to put up with a nother 3 week delay for the midnight blue color.

 

I think it is the order change department that can tell you what parts are the cause of the delay.

 

I hope mine ships earlier then 8/15

How long did it take to build?

 

One or two days I think. I didn't check the status number until last night, and it was in boxing

 

My 1520 took 16 days to ship. Hopefully will arrive tomorrow.

 

I ordered mine at approx 5:10 pm today(7-29). ETA shipping date 8-10.
I'm praying it will be a lot earlier than that.

Do they manufacture the 1520 in Round Rock or overseas?

When did you find out it was delayed? Before/after the original est. ship date? Just curious because i'm dying here. Thnx

 

I wouldn't expect to get your laptop in under a week with all of the delays that have been reported. I ordered my 1520 on July 15th, with an estimated ship date of August 8th. It's been in build ever since the 16th, I believe. I'm not too optimistic about it shipping out on time next week, either.

 

Well the dell store still says that the midnight blue is still delayed, but at least it says that the wsxga screen doesn't cause a delay.

well i am from india and here they are not offering the 2gb upgrade for free. at the time i ordered it cost INR 9800 and last week it came down to INR 3112.
i am gonna talk to my dell rep about this one..
btw its a spring green..

I don't know what threads others have looked at, but I ordered mine on 7/24 and it's sleighted to ship 8/10. I chatted with a CS rep online yesterday and asked if there was anything delaying the 1520 orders, and was told that the WXGA+ (1440x900) screens were backordered 10-14 days. He upgraded me to free overnight shipping and told me that my order would ship on or before 8/10 (same original ship estimate). He offered the free shipping upgrade right away, so I would suggest to anyone waiting on their 1520 to talk to a CS rep and ask about a shipping upgrade due to product delays. They normally provide them no questions asked.

 

Ah, someone else in a similar boat. I thought I was the only one waiting for more than a few weeks. Did you get spring green by any chance? I'm trying to figure out what else could be holding up the order. Even though they quoted a delay for the WXGA+ when I ordered, sometime last week it wasn't listed as delayed through the order page. So they had to have gotten a shipment in sometime between my order and now.. I think.

 

Well good news finally. I called dell CS this morning to ask about my computer due to the fact it has been in "build stage" for 2 weeks. They said there is no delays on this computer and it should be shipping tomorrow We shall see....

Heh. Free upgraded shipping is nice but good luck on that ship date. Maybe it will ship on time but a Dell rep telling you it will ship doesn't actually decrease the odds of a delay, which are quite high

It hasn't even gone through testing and boxing yet but its supposed to ship today? I don't think so. Looks like I won't be getting my 1520 this week after all.

 

Got a delay notice today. The new ship date is AUGUST 28TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is bull****, a month and a half to get a computer? No way. More than likely going to cancel the order.

I asked for a shipping upgrade and the CSR told me they cannot ship by air to due the cabin being air compressed. People take there notebooks in planes all the time!

Anyway, I was told the ship date would be August 9, and Est Arrival is Aug 28.

BTW I am in Canada as well.
