    Hi Guys,

I wanted to ask those of using expresscard eSATA cards the following question:

When you plug in a new hard drive, is it immediately recognized by your computer through the eSATA connection? Or do you have to plug it in via USB/Firewire to get your computer to recognize it and then plug in by eSATA for recognition?

If you could post your expresscard model and external HD details, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Btw, here are my details:

    Rosewill RC-605 ESATA Expresscard34
External HD: Rosewill eSATA enclosure with Seagate 7200.11 750GB HD.

    Thanks!

Yes, you can simply hook your hard drives up to the expresscard sata connectors, and Windows recognizes them. Just like USB hard drives.

I use Vantec Nexstar eSata cases BTW, and a generic expresscard I got off Ebay.

    Cinner,

Thanks for the resposne. My eSATA card doesnt recognize the drive until it is formatted properly (done through connecting the drive via USB, and having Windows recognize it first). I am not sure if this is the result of a problem with the expresscard or if its a problem with the computer...
