My screen looks great when I'm playing and the game is rendering bright graphics, whenever I go into dark areas the backlight from the LCD kind of grays everything up.

Is that typical? It's not terrible, but definitely a difference when placed next to an external LCD.

it's normal for laptops to not have the "best quality" screens compared to desktop screens.
