I recieved my XPS 1530 yesterday. It's a great notebook, however the more I look at the screen and compare it to my 1520, the more disapointed I become. It's the WXGA+ flavor and it happens to be a Samsung (not sure if that's good or bad). The complaint I have with it is backlight bleed, terrible viewing angles (you have to look dead straight on to see a good picture). Plus, when viewing Word documents the white background is sparkly and doesn't look clean. Comparatively, the display on my 1520 (also a Samsung) looks great in the mentioned respects.
What exactly did some of you guys do to get your screens replaced in your Inspirons and XPS notebooks? Did you call Dell or use the online tech support chat? Did anyone give you any grief? Did they send a tech to replace the screen, or is the user able to replace their screen? I'm an IT tech by trade, so I'm more than able to handle an LCD swap.
Lastly, if anyone has a 1530 with an LG screen, can you post the part number? You can find out by logging into your Dell account and looking up your system specs.

Mine is 1280x800 resolution
Dells part # is NU763 -
Being as you just got your system, you can make the complaint and they will send you a new system. You keep that one until the new one arrives. In fact, you can even set your system up and then exchange HD when the new one arrives to keep yr setup (just remember to keep the orig disk and sticker for Vista.
There will be no prob and you can also request just a screen replacement. -
I already went through Dell chat to get a new display. It will be here in the morning. If it isn't an LG screen, I may not bother putting the new panel in. We'll see... The 1530 is a really nice machine, but the screen sucks compared to my 1520 matte screen ... If this doesn't work out, I may ask for a replacement system or refund. I really really really want to love this system, but the screen is ruining it for me.

Why do people threaten to get a Mac Book Pro? Max resolution is 1440x900. Huge difference from 1680x900. Like the difference between a tri-cycle and a Ducati, to me. You guys go ride your tricycles.
