    Hello,

Does anyone know if you can turn off the NVidia graphics? My old Sony Vaio Z has a slider switch to turn off the NVidia - this saves power and reduces the heat it generates.

That can't be known until we have some in-depth review ..according to notebookcheck early November we'll have the dell xps 15 review.
It can be optimus or Optimus+switch as of now :), maybe try asking a dell representative ?

It's Optimus from what I can tell. The new machines with G-SYNC don't have Optimus, but those without G-SYNC still have it I believe.

Optimus essentially only switches on the dedicated NVIDIA GPU when it is needed for games/graphically intense programs. So with Optimus, you don't need a physical switch to turn the NVIDIA card on/off.

Strangely enough my 5 year old Sony Vaio Z completely died yesterday so I ordered the XPS 15 - no frills other than the 250GB SSD. I'll post back once I test it out. They say they have zero in stock you have to get your made so they are estimating 2 weeks.

They apparently have some of the highest end ones in stock at the MS store.
