How long does the "in-transit" message appear for?

According to the FAQ it should last 3 business days but in my case it is now the 4th.

Anyone had a situation where after their product was shipped but they never received a tracking number or courier information?

I was fully charged after the shipping but have no way to track my order down, when i call Dell which gets transferred to India, they have no idea what i am talking about and try to stall me by telling that they will resolve and call me in 24 hours.

In this case, should i let my credit card company know and is there any thing i can do to resolve this? I have been fully charged for a product i have never received nor do i know that it even exists, all i see on my account summary is that it was shipped and in transit. If it has gone lost at the hands of a courier (keep in mind, i don't even know which courier it is as none of that information is available to me) is there any way i can dispute this charge?
