I have a Dell 1520 and I realize that there is no sound card on this system and the headphone jack has noise. However, I still want to buy a 2.1 speaker system as I am looking at the Logitech z-2300 and the Logitech X-4i. There is like a fourty dollar difference between teh two though (the Z-2300 is almost double the price of the X-4i). Can someone explain to me if buying a premium 2.1 system is even worth it without a premium sound card?

You can get a USB or Expresscard-based audio adapter instead of using the built-in audio.
For example:

Actually there are other usb audio adapters for under $10 but I don't know which ones are good.
